Contractors and trades / tree service
One Monday at a tree service.
Nobody shops around for a limb on a roof. They call down the list until somebody answers.
Short jobs decided fast, which is exactly why a call nobody picks up is gone for good. A composite day, not a client's records. Nothing here is a measured result.

What the system does
6:30am
A limb came down overnight and it is lying across a driveway.
Answers inside a minute. Asks the address, whether anything is touching a power line, and for a photograph.
7:05am
Nothing on the line. The car is underneath it.
Captured, with the photograph attached, and marked ahead of the trims.
8:00am
Somebody asks whether the oak in the back yard is going to fall.
Will not say. That is a judgment somebody makes standing under it, not one made from a photograph.
8:45am
A caller asks what a removal costs.
Gives the range the company approved and names what moves it: the height, the access, and what is sitting underneath.
10:10am
Somebody wants to take the limb off themselves and asks which cut comes first.
Refuses. A saw over somebody's head is not a question this answers, and saying so costs nothing.
11:30am
A caller asks about taking down a tree near the water.
Says some species and some sizes are protected here and that the county decides it. Does not tell anybody their tree is fine to cut.
12:40pm
The tree is the neighbor's. The branches are over the caller's roof.
Does not take a side. Says the owner has to be the one who agrees to the work, whoever that turns out to be.
2:15pm
Both climbers are up in the same tree.
Inquiries arrive and get answered. None of them ring.
4:00pm
Somebody who had a tree taken out last spring wants the stump ground.
Recognized and routed to a person, with the old address already attached.
8:20pm
A dead pine, and a homeowner who has decided tonight is the night to worry about it.
Answered. Nothing is falling tonight, so it rings nobody. It is the first thing anybody reads in the morning.
Nothing here took longer than a phone call to decide. That is the trade. The jobs are small enough that the only real way to lose one is to be second to answer.
Every line here is a composite. It is not drawn from a client's records and no number on this page is a measured result.
