Contractors and trades / roofing contractor
The Thursday after a storm at a roofing contractor.
The wind was Tuesday. By Thursday the phone had stopped being answerable.
A storm week, which is the only week that decides a roofing year. A composite day, not a client's records. Nothing here is a measured result.

What the system does
6:00am
Two days after the wind. The crew is already out tarping.
The overnight inquiries are sorted by address, by whether water is actively coming in, and by whether they have called their insurer yet.
7:30am
A homeowner asks whether the damage is covered.
Does not answer that. Reading a policy is a licensed job in this state and it is not one this company holds. Says so plainly and takes the number.
9:00am
Somebody wants to know if the roof can be looked at today.
Does not promise a day. Takes the address and places it in the order it arrived, which is the only fair way to run a storm week.
10:45am
A canvasser from out of state has been down the street, and the homeowner asks whether this company is local.
Answers with the license number and the years in the county, from the approved file. Says nothing at all about the other company.
1:20pm
The volume of a normal week arrives in an afternoon.
None of it is lost. The desk is on the phone the entire time and the written queue keeps filling correctly behind them.
3:50pm
Somebody with a small leak and no storm damage at all.
Sorted out of the storm queue and answered separately, so the genuinely urgent stay at the top of it.
7:00pm
The office closed at five. The inquiries did not.
Still arriving, still answered, still ordered by whether water is currently entering a house.
10:15pm
A tarp has come loose in the wind.
Rings a phone. Water actively getting into a house is the one thing allowed to.
Nobody was told to call back tomorrow. In a storm week the calls you cannot answer are not lost politely. They are lost to whoever answered first.
Every line here is a composite. It is not drawn from a client's records and no number on this page is a measured result.
